Your company shouldn’t just be on social, the top execs should be too

business (650 x 434)

It’s 2014 and social media might still be just be a buzzword for many, but in reality, a number of businesses are using this medium to reach their business goals. Brands all over the world are already making use of social media and integrating this medium into their core marketing campaigns and processes to connect directly to their target audience and engaging with them on a personal level through an online platform that they are comfortable with.

A couple of years ago when social media was still new, many people were interested in this new social medium to market their products. Everyone was trying all the different social media channels that were popping up like popcorn at your local cinema.

Social media keeps on evolving with no sign of stopping anytime soon. Looking forward, it’s clear that we are in a period of transition. Many have already tested concepts and are now driving forward using social media in many more ways than just a digital social medium. Look at how Google Authorship, the Knowledge Graph, Google+ and semantic search are becoming more important every day, especially if you are into digital marketing and SEO.

New ways to use social media

If you are one of these brands looking for new ways to integrate social media into your regular business processes, it’s important that you should understand this medium and what you can accomplish with it. You should know the importance of having a solid presence on the social web, your blog, a content theme calendar for publishing content, website, social media profiles, analytics to measure success, and regularly engaging with your target audience online.

What does all this have to do with the top executives in your business? It’s great to have them on board with the whole process and even better if one of them could be the face of your brand or company on the social web. They can physically be the focal point where the sole values of your brand get showcased.

Some are not comfortable with social media

I’ve seen this many times where CEOs and other executives aren’t comfortable with social media postings and engaging on a regular basis. If this is the case in your business, it’s really okay to work with someone who could help them communicate the brand message online.

If the top executives in your business are already using social media, it will be easier for them to connect with your employees and target audience on the social web and they will be able to see the potential this medium can provide to your business. This could also be a great opportunity for them to see potential issues that needs to be focused on with the respect of the proper usage of this medium.

If you are a marketer and you want your business to move forward with social media, explain how this medium works to your CEO and top executives advantage and what value it can bring to your company. Get them onboard.
