US President Donald Trump needed little over five hours to amass over 137 000 likes and more than 50 000 retweets on his latest Twitter outburst.

Addressing Iran President Hassan Rouhani directly on Sunday, Trump urged his counterpart to “be cautious”.

“To Iranian President Rouhani: NEVER, EVER THREATEN THE UNITED STATES AGAIN OR YOU WILL SUFFER CONSEQUENCES THE LIKES OF WHICH FEW THROUGHOUT HISTORY HAVE EVER SUFFERED BEFORE. WE ARE NO LONGER A COUNTRY THAT WILL STAND FOR YOUR DEMENTED WORDS OF VIOLENCE & DEATH. BE CAUTIOUS!” he wrote, including the all-caps section.

The US President’s latest post is easily his most influential since his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Notably, July for Trump on Twitter has been his busiest since November 2016, with more than 360 posted since the month began.

The tweet itself has also racked up higher figures than his average, like and retweet rate of 96 000 and 23 000 per tweet respectively, according to SocialBlade.

However, not all respondents are leaning towards Trump’s side.

Some snarkily used Trump’s format against him.

While others dug up his previous tweets.

Others on the social network urged America to make the country “great forever”.

Opinions continue to form on the social network as the tweet gains traction.

Donald Trump is currently the 20th most popular account on Twitter, with 53.2-million followers. He remains well behind the social network’s big three: Katy Perry, Justin Bieber and Barack Obama, who have all crossed the 100-million follower threshold.
