Looks like the shunning of Huawei by the US is finally impacting US companies in China. According to a report by the South China…
Google has brought the voice of John Legend to Google Assistant, the company revealed on Thursday.
“Imagine hearing the silky smooth voice of John Legend answering your pressing questions everyday. Or narrating your local weather forecast,” Google teased.
The feature, which is exclusively English, is only available to US users “for a limited time”.
“Cameo voices on the Assistant have been one of the top requests we’ve heard from you, and with the help of state-of-the-art speech synthesis model, WaveNet, they’re now a reality,” the company explained.
Those who are lucky enough to have the feature can say “Hey Google, talk like John Legend”, and a selection of other phrases, to activate the singer’s voice.
“You can also go to your “Assistant voice” in Assistant Settings to switch to John’s melodic voice,” Google noted.
Unfortunately, the company has not mentioned when users in other parts of the world will get a taste of voice cameos in Google Assistant.
