The launch of the second-generation of the Huawei Watch GT seems imminent, after leaked renders were leaked this week.

Published by Roland Quandt of WinFuture on Monday, the renders of the “Huawei Watch GT 2” suggests the timepiece will keep it rounded face, gain a larger battery of 445mAh, and come in two versions.

One version will focus on sport enthusiasts with a more utilitarian strap. The other caters for the fashion conscious with a leather strap.

The Watch GT 2 seems to retain its heart-rate tracking hardware at its rear too, but it’s not clear what other additions it’ll boast.

The watch could launch alongside the Huawei Mate 30 later this month

Quandt also noted that a microphone and speaker will feature, in similar fashion to the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2.

If it also features eSIM functionality, that would mean placing and receiving calls from your wrist without a smartphone.

Huawei could likely launch the Watch alongside the upcoming Mate 30 series, expected to debut on 19 September.

But who knows? The Watch could also make a surprise bow at IFA 2019, Europe’s largest trade conference, which kicks off this week.
